The Azure Developer Role — Talking to Joe
Working for RDW and TeamNow
Currently, I am working on two assignments. For example, in collaboration with my colleagues at TeamValue and RDW, I am building an integration platform to securely receive and send messages from A to B. This involves many technical challenges, but that's what makes the work fun! We work from the Scrum method where I am responsible for setting up the software and infrastructure. In addition, we are constantly investigating how we can make the platform even better.
Continuously learning new things
If Azure Developer I start my day with a daily scrum meeting. We discuss the stories and tasks on the schedule and discuss possible bottlenecks that may come our way. After the daily, I start my work and work out my stories. I call and speak to my colleagues regularly. To sparring, but also to learn from. Because I love learning new things and I want to understand how devised solutions work.
It goes beyond just bringing knowledge and carrying out tasks
When I joined RDW's project, it was still a small team. But gradually, the team grew and so did the knowledge gap. That was a challenge for us. We wanted to explain our Cloud way of thinking to the team so that they could implement it themselves. At TeamValue, we find this behavioral change very important, and that is what makes us very unique. We are not just here to bring hands and knowledge, but we are coaching the team in a new way of thinking. Once the new way of thinking landed, I really had an 'oh yeah' moment. The team's drive to understand and be able to implement the working method actually gave me extra energy. I think that's so cool to see!
In addition to my work at RDW, I also participate internally on our own product TeamNow. A game that improves team performance and focuses on behavioral change. The variety in these two assignments makes my work very diverse and that's why it's different every day.
The energy here is very motivating
TeamValue is a dynamic, friendly and, above all, very friendly company. It's not for nothing that we call our club with team members “Ohana” (means family). There is a certain type of energy in our people that is very motivating. That makes me super excited! It doesn't matter how crazy your idea is here, you can always put it on the table here. And the great thing is that everyone thinks along with you.
Growing into new roles
We regularly have educational team nights and find it important to obtain certifications in the field. This has helped me grow enormously over the past 1.5 years. I had never worked in a Scrum team or taken a lead role in an assignment, but by talking to the customer, asking a lot of questions and learning from the experiences of my colleagues at TeamValue, I was able to fulfill this role. Eagerness to learn, enthusiasm and drive are the most important qualities for creating the best and coolest product.
